Snowy 15 Person Family Session {Stevens Family}

Let me tell you a story about how this family became my adopted family.

When I was 16, I met an awesome person named Shannon. She is the gorgeous redhead on the left with her husband and 3 kiddos. Our friendship has a weird beginning, one that I'll have to save for a different blog post. Maybe because I'm not quite ready to fess up to the ridiculous things we did on the day our friendship began. (Okay, sneak peek...it involves prank calls, Elmer Fudd, and a Christmas Halloween party. That's all you get.) Anyway, Shannon and I spent a lot of time together in the coming years which led to me getting to know the rest of her family.

You might have noticed there are a lot of people in that top picture. That's because Brian and Sharon have 8 kids. I think large families don't have issues accepting other people into the family because what's one more!? I have spent nights in their house on extra beds, couches, and sometimes wherever there was a spot on the floor not already covered by a person. I have raided their refrigerator, squished myself in the back of a full suburban, and had countless late night conversations in the living room over a cup of tea.

Family dinner nights were every week. Sharon would create massive amounts of amazing food. And after eating we would all flood the couches to watch a movie or show. Chuck was a favorite TV show for those nights. So much so that family nights got renamed "Chuck Night". It was during the reign of Chuck nights that I met and began dating Micah.

Introducing Micah to my second family was a huge deal! #1 the family dynamic wasn't exactly what you'd call "normal". And #2 I really wanted them to like him and for him to like them. Go figure, everyone accepted him right into the family too. And it's a good thing since he became a permanent part by marrying me.

I could go on and on about my memories with this crazy bunch. Adventures, graduations, engagements, weddings, babies and more make for hours of conversation starters. But what I'll end with is that I love Sharon, Brian, Jenna, Tim, Shannon, Jordan, Corban, Rezin, Riley, Gregg, Scott, Kate, Abby, Josie, and Emmett so much!
